A dispute review board (DRB) or dispute adjudication board (DAB) is a forum for dispute resolution, typically comprising one or three persons selected by the contracting parties. Dispute boards have evolved into an effective tool and become increasingly popular alternative to costly dispute resolution mechanisms such as arbitration and litigation due to their advantages such as low cost, faster decision making, expertise of board members and their familiarity with the project. If the parties fail to avoid their difference escalating into a dispute, they may decide to take their dispute to dispute boards provided that the contract allows to do so.
